It is very easy to get into the Christmas spirit if you live in New Braunfels. Numerous holiday-themed events take place in November and early December, from markets to visiting Santa. Find out some of the ways you can get in the Christmas spirit before December even arrives.
Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas Market
Kick off Christmas with the Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas Market at the New Braunfels Convention Center. This market will be from Friday, Nov. 17, to Sunday, Nov. 19. On Friday, the market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, it goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday’s market is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This Christmas market has been around since 1988, benefiting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives.
You will find a range of authentic German collectibles and ornaments. You can also find presents, clothing, decorations, antiques, specialty items, and more. There will be artisans, authors, and merchants at the market. It will also feature a series of events, including the Star Party, Schnitt & Strudel, and Elfies with Santa. Tickets for the market itself are $10 per day or $15 for multiday admission. The Star Party and Schnitt & Strudel require separate tickets.
Downtown Lighting and Santa’s Arrival
The Downtown Holiday Lighting and Santa’s Arrival should be in your schedule for Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. This annual event is completely free to attend and kicks off New Braunfels’ holiday celebrations. It celebrates the spirit of this holiday season while lighting up the beautiful structures in Historic Downtown New Braunfels. If you want to attend, just go to the Main Plaza downtown. Be sure to have your camera ready to snap photos of Santa’s arrival. Between Santa and the gorgeous lights giving downtown a festive flair, this event has something for everyone, regardless of age.
Photo Op with Santa and Mrs. Claus
A must-do of every holiday season is taking a picture with Santa Claus, but you don’t have to go to a busy mall and pay for this treat if you live in New Braunfels. Santa will be at the New Braunfels Farmers Market on Nov. 25, waiting to take a picture with you and your kids. Mrs. Claus will also be there, making for the perfect holiday farmers market. This free event goes from 10 a.m. to noon. Best of all, it is a full month before Christmas, so you will have more than enough time to frame the photo of your kids with Santa. You can give it as a present to their grandparents or use the image for your holiday cards.
