Enjoy the 2018 Wein & Saengerfest in New Braunfels Published on: May 1st, 2018 Get ready for wine, beer, food, and entertainment at the Wein & Saengerfest coming to New Braunfels soon. There will be craft beer and wine tasting plus entertainment and things to do for the entire family. The event is even pet-friendly, but your pooch must stay on a leash the whole time. Where and When Admission to the Wein & Saengerfest is free and it is in downtown New Braunfels, making it incredibly easy to find. The event is on Saturday, May 5 and lasts from noon until 10 p.m. Those who plan on tasting wine or beer or buying anything should bring some cash. For $15, you get five wine tasting tickets plus a commemorative wine glass. Each tasting ticket is $2, but you must first buy a souvenir wine glass ($5 if you buy tastings separately). The Craft Biergarten tasting is similarly priced, costing $15 for the commemorative glass and four tastings and $2 for each extra tasting. At least 16 wineries and 11 craft breweries will participate. Wine and Beer Wine and craft beer tastings are one of the biggest Wein & Saengerfest highlights. Find a favorite then go ahead and buy more of it so you can enjoy your new favorite beverage at home whenever you want. Visit WeinStein University’s area which is dedicated to craft beer and wine-related education and has 30-minute seminars scheduled throughout the day, with at least seven on the schedule. The wine market is open from noon to 8:30 p.m. with the tasting area open until 8 p.m.; the Texas Craft Biergarten remains open until the same time. Other Activities In addition to the wine and beer, the Wein & Saengerfest includes live music all day long on two different stages. There will be an artisan food market to explore, food seminars, and plenty of activities for your kids to enjoy. The event culminates in a street dance. The day begins with the Kindermasken Parade at 11:30 a.m. followed by a review at 12:00 noon at the Main Stage Plaza. This is among the oldest traditions in New Braunfels, with the first Kindermasken Parade taking place in 1856! Other family activities last from noon to 6 p.m. Supporting the New Braunfels Parks Foundation The City of New Braunfels hosts the Wein & Saengerfest in a partnership with the New Braunfels Parks Foundation, New Braunfels Downtown Association, and New Braunfels Downtown Board. The proceeds will go to the New Braunfels Parks Foundation as well as the New Braunfels Downtown Association, which works to enhance downtown.
