Embrace The Outdoors At Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake

It was a cold winter, but those days are behind you. Now, the sun is shining and summer is heating up. That means it’s time to head to Canyon Lake. Check out some of the parks that are open at Canyon Lake this summer, and make some plans to visit one or two.

Overlook Park

Overlook Park will give you the quintessential Canyon Lake experience. This day-use park offers sweeping views of the lake. In fact, it’s considered one of the best places to go to view the lake. You can also enjoy fishing, swimming, and hiking here, and you’re likely to spot quite a bit of wildlife.

Potter’s Creek Park

If you want to go camping, you can’t beat Potter’s Creek Park. The park sits on 303 acres and has RV sites, screen shelters, and tent camping areas. This park makes good use of its lakefront setting. It has a large beach area that you can access if you want to enjoy the water, and it has boat ramps. It also has a fishing dock, so bring your equipment with you. You’ll want to get up early in the morning and drop a line when you’re at this park.

Canyon Park and Canyon Beach Park

Canyon Park and Canyon Beach Park are located right next to each other. Canyon Park is a camping facility. It has primitive campsites and more than eight miles of trails. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have a shower facility, though, so if you’re staying here, you’re going to rough it.

Canyon Beach Park is a day-use facility, but you do have to pay a fee to access it. Once you pay your fee, you’ll get access to a swim beach, picnic tables, and more.

Comal Park

If you want to have a picnic, you can’t beat Comal Park. This park has 55 picnic sites, so you can easily enjoy a meal in the great outdoors. That’s not all it offers, either. The children’s playground will help the little ones burn off some energy, and the beach is perfect for relaxing. This is a very popular spot for families, couples, and singles. Since it’s so popular, you’ll have to pay a small fee to enter.
