Every day, public servants put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of civilians. It’s a hard job, but they sacrifice their safety to ensure the safety of others. Some of them even give their lives in the process of doing the work that they face every day. That’s a huge sacrifice, which is exactly why these types of heroes should be honored. You can do your part in honoring them by coming out and participating in the Heroes 9/11 Memorial Run. This is your opportunity to show public servants that you’re grateful for the work they do every day. Interested in being a part of this event? Read on to get more details.
This race is coming up soon, which means you’ll want to register as soon as you can. You can easily do that online. The race will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, and will begin bright and early at 8 a.m. at Rockin R River Rides. It costs just $25 to participate. And since the New Braunfels Police Officers Association organized this event, you’ll know that you’re doing something good by coming out and trying your best.
Now, learn about how you can prepare yourself for this race.
Find Comfortable Shoes
If you don’t tend to run a lot, you may not have the kind of shoes you need to complete this run/walk. Ensure that you have comfortable sneakers or running shoes that don’t hurt your feet. Also, remember to break them in before the race, so you don’t get any blisters.
Decide Whether to Run or Walk
When you hear about a 5K, you may think that you have to run the entire distance. However, that’s not the case. You can easily walk this course, as well. Just think about your current fitness level and what you’re trying to get out of this race, and you can decide whether to walk or run. There’s no pressure either way!

It’s still rather hot in Texas at the beginning of September, which is one of the reasons it’s so important to stay hydrated before and during this run. Start a few days early, and drink plenty of water. Try to avoid anything too sugary or alcoholic. Then, make sure you don’t forget to drink lots of water while you run – just not too much, as you don’t want to upset your stomach.
