Have you held a beer stein or two over the years? Now is your chance to show off your stein holding skills and win a trip to New York City in the process. The Masskrugstemmen Bier Stein Holding Contest is at Krause’s Café and Biergarten on July 14. The contest starts at 8 p.m. and lasts an hour. If you win your round, you’ll compete in the finals on Aug. 11. Win again, and you’ll get shipped out to NYC to compete for the national title. Oh, and get this. If you win the national title, you’ll get to go to Germany.
It costs $20 to enter the contest. Your entry fee will include a liter of beer and stein. You get to keep the stein.
If you’ve never been in a beer stein holding contest, here are some tips for training.
Get the Form Correct
First things first. You need to understand the proper form for stein holding. Simply fill a stein to the liter mark and hold it straight out in front of you, with your arm fully extended. Hold that position to keep proper form.
Now that sounds simple, but it won’t be long before it becomes painful. Fortunately, you can train yourself to get past the pain.
Set a Lofty Goal
Start the training process by setting a goal that’s about two minutes longer than your current time. You won’t reach the goal immediately, but you will get there with proper training.

Hold the Stine
Start by holding the beer stein out in front of you, with a stopwatch right next to you. Hold it as long as you possibly can, and when the pain is too great, hit the “Lap” button on the stopwatch. Stretch and relax your arm for a full minute, and then hit the “Lap” button once again. Hold the stein again.
Repeat this process over and over again until you finally reach your goal. You’ll build up strength and learn how to fight through the pain.
Once you reach your goal, it’ll be time to make an even loftier goal. Keep doing that until you think you will finally come out a winner.
Your arms will be ripped after you prepare for beer stein holding. You’ll want to drive around and show off those new guns, but first, you need the right set of wheels. Nissan of New Braunfels in New Braunfels, Texas, has the perfect vehicle to complement those beer stein-holding arms. Come and see us before the contest.
