New Year’s Eve 2018 American Aquarium

New Year’s Eve

Can you think of a better band to ring in the New Year with than American Aquarium? The band has always been fun to listen to, but it proved just how good it is with the album “Things Change.” This album solidified lead singer BJ Barham’s southern Springsteen cred, and just like Springsteen, American Aquarium songs are perfect to listen to while sharing a few drinks with friends. You can spend this New Year with the band by attending New Year’s Eve 2018 American Aquarium at Gruene Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m., the opening act hits the stage at 8 p.m., and American Aquarium takes over at 10 p.m.

General admission tickets are $45, and that includes free tamales and popcorn. Plus, there will be champagne splits for sale.

“Things Change” – A Career-Changing Album

When American Aquarium released the album, “Things Change,” it made quite a statement. The band has been through quite a few changes since its last album, and that’s apparent in both the title and the songs.

And just what has changed?

Well, for starters, the band has new members. In fact, lead singer BJ Barham is the only man left standing since the previous studio album. His entire band quit, and he had to replace everyone. Fortunately, he found some amazing musicians to stand next to him on stage.

That’s not all, either. Barham has made some serious life changes. He got sober and married, and he even had a kid. Things sure did change.

These changes come through in the lyrics. Many of the songs appear to be autobiographical, and he’s not shy about singing about his own failings. This is new territory for American Aquarium, and it suits the band.

Expect to hear lots of songs from this album during the concert. You will love them, even if you’ve never heard an American Aquarium song before.

The Toast

One thing to keep in mind about the concert. New Year’s Eve toasts are usually at midnight, but New Braunfels doesn’t allow alcohol consumption after midnight. Because of that, the toast at this party will take place at 11 p.m. That will give everyone ample time to enjoy their champagne before the clock strikes midnight.
