Spend A Weekend At The Sattler Farmers Market

Sattler Farmer's Market

There’s a new farmers market in town, and you need to check it out. It’s called Sattler Farmers Market, and it’s open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This farmers market just opened this year, and it’s already a hit with the people of New Braunfels. Jessica Japhet, the owner of the home-based business Toots’ Sweets, runs the market, and she’s been aggressively pursuing farmers to help it grow quickly.

It already had grown quite a bit. It’s had everything from fresh produce to jerkies, and Japhet expects it to continue to grow. She even has plans to add a bounce house, some barbecue, and other goodies.

The farmers market is an excellent spot to hang out with members of the community, and it offers so much more. Check out some reasons you should shop at your local farmers market.

Eat Fresh

Fresh produce is so much healthier than the produce you’ll find at the grocery store. See, as soon as produce is picked, it starts losing nutrients. The longer the produce has to travel to your table, the more nutrients it loses. When you buy your produce from the farmers market, you’re eating fresh produce. That is good for your health, so keep shopping locally. You’ll likely start looking and feeling better after you add a hefty helping of fresh produce to your diet.

Better for the Environment

Have you ever thought of what your food has to go through to make it to your table? Some food is shipped from thousands of miles away. By the time it makes it to your house, it’s responsible for lots of greenhouse emissions.

You can avoid that by shopping at the local farmers market. The food doesn’t have to travel as far, so it’s better for the environment.

Support the Local Economy

Shopping local doesn’t just help the local farmers, although that is important. It puts money in their pockets and lets them continue growing food. It also supports the local economy. The majority of money spent at a local business stays in the local economy. That money so important to the people of New Braunfels.
